she & him.

mm, regardless of the fact that it’s way past my bedtime, i feel the need to sacrafice my sleeping schedule for the week by expressing my new found love of she & him. maybe it’s zooey deschanel—the epitome of a perfect human being. i’m guessing it’s a combination of her flawlessness (i know, i know—everyone has flaws. but zooey? she has less than you, of this i’m sure) + the extremely catchy indie pop + m. ward’s magical musical sense that is making me fall in love. or is it the fact that their band was born in portland? either way, please listen and fall into a dream like trance like i have. her voice is pure honey and butter and everything sweet, and their music and lyrics will make you feel young and in love, i promise.

this is my foray upon the world of the unknown.

i was going to say, the world of pop culture. but see--i'm a particular sort of person. i don't think i can stand to writea bout pop culture in today's society specifically. especially if that pertains to the jersey shore or lindsey lohan. no thanks. this is more of an exploration, my exploration of music // movies // books // fashion // art and whatever else sparks my interest. and i know, essentially those components make up pop culture--but whatever.

sentimental thief. odd name, i'm aware of this. bu it has a hidden meaning of sorts. everything i will write about, i hold sentimental in an artistic sense. through exploration and interperatation, i am stealing a bit of each piece and embedding it in my brain to remember, to build upon, to adapt, etc. therefore, i am a sentimental thief. i hope you don't mind.

anyways, a bit about myself. [ basically everything you don't need to know ]
  • you can call me matty [ i realize this is a boy's name; let's ignore that and move on please! ]
  • i am of the feminine variety, more specifically in the adolescent category [ soon transitioning into the young adult category, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there ]
  • i used to love pop culture, but latel it's been getting on my nerves. maybe because i'ts like food. remind me to elaborate on a later date.
  • i'm just trying to discover the raw and real elements of life that make up our fascinating culture.
  • actually, i have no idea what i'm doing exactly.
  • and that doesn't scare me one bit.

welcome!
